WHAT ECONOMIC DOWNTURN?

Despite the mass media attention surrounding the nation’s current credit crunch, it isn’t all doom and gloom for business. One company riding the wave of the present economic climate is Provide.

Provide ride the wave of the current economic climate. Milton Keynes

With July 2008 being Provide’s most successful month to date, the company is going against the grain and looking to recruit more staff to cope with the ever increasing workload. While everyone else is resorting to drastic cost cutting measures, Provide is expanding.

Provide’s 5 Directors offer some valuable advice to companies and employees in Milton Keynes looking to follow suit and succeed where others are struggling:
Dan Brazier, Managing Director of Provide recommends that companies should be taking advantage of the situation:
“Remain confident even if your competitors are putting a freeze on recruitment, as this gives you the opportunity to attract the best people for your business. If you approach employment as a key strategy for your business, you will benefit in the long term. If you are uncertain about permanent employment, bring professionals in on a contract basis but whatever you do, don’t sacrifice filling essential roles in your business and focusing on achieving your headcount targets.”
“We are practising what we preach and not only expanding our team but creating a work environment that will appeal to the very best professionals in the marketplace. Our commitment has paid off as this year we were nominated as one of the UK’s Top Employers by The National Business Awards. The best advice I can give to businesses is to work hard to look after the talent you already have and do all you can to attract more of the same”, explained David Freeman, Operations Director at Provide.

Stuart White, Principal Recruitment Director at Provide added: “We have a team focused solely in vertical markets as well as generalist IT and Telecoms. These niche markets are buoyant and demand for skilled professionals is vibrant. We are working hard for our clients and candidates, keeping our fingers on the pulse of the marketplace and it’s paying off. In-depth knowledge of the industry you work in and the skills set available is paramount if you are to succeed in this economic uncertainty”.

“Capitalise on the global marketplace”, recommends Dan Brazier. “It’s a case of repeating your success in other markets. Look at your working model for the UK and leverage it in other countries by using experts who understand the international marketplace. Look further afield because the opportunities are there for clients and candidates – here and abroad.”

Hayden Male, PCR Director of Provide offered some final advice to candidates: “Make yourself indispensable, keep your CV up-to-date, network in the industry, deliver on your promises and build on your skills with qualifications and research. The healthiest companies are still recruiting and will be looking for the individuals who have the most to offer. In return, they provide the greatest career opportunities. It’s not just the perfect time to employ but the right time to improve your prospects.”
